Hello Rainmakers,

Sheryl Moore looks at how the transport technology group Tracsis has delivered on years of strategic promises with decisive action, buying rail software specialist Mistral Data while selling a services-led business that no longer fits its plans.

Leeds transport technology group Tracsis has stopped talking about transformation and started delivering it.

Within the space of a week, the AIM-listed business agreed its biggest acquisition in years, paying £48m for rail software specialist Mistral Data, before selling its Events Transport Planning and Management business for £7.25m.

One deal brings in exactly the kind of recurring software revenues the company has spent years pursuing. The other removes a profitable but services-led business that no longer fits the direction of travel.

Individually, they are significant transactions. Together, they demonstrate that Tracsis is accelerating a strategy first outlined several years ago – one that will leave the business looking very different from the company it was when David Frost took over as chief executive in 2023.
